What You ll Do:
Assist in inpatient Cardiothoracic Surgery within a Level 2 Trauma designated facility. Work alongside experienced surgeons in the operating room, performing procedures such as central venous and dialysis catheter placements, arterial line and intraaortic balloon pump placements, vascular tissue retrieval, endoscopic retrieval, chest tube insertions, and thoracentesis. Ensure comprehensive patient management and surgical support under physician supervision, participating in a rotation schedule with varied call hours. Maintain your proficiency in EMR systems, specifically Epic, and adhere to all clinical protocols.
Required Skills:
- NCCPA Board Certification
- Active State License (prior to assignment) no pending licenses accepted
- Minimum of 1 year Cardiothoracic OR experience (not suitable for new graduates)
- Proficiency in procedures including vascular access, chest tube insertion, and thoracentesis
- ACLS and BLS certification through AHA
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work under supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Robotic surgery experience (preferred but not required)
- Experience with intraaortic balloon pump management
- Familiarity with Epic EMR systems
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies
- At least one year of Cardiothoracic surgery experience in a hospital setting
Other Requirements:
- Must obtain and maintain an active state license prior to the start date
- Credentialing process estimated to take 90-120 days
- Availability for 8-12 hour shifts, including call rotations (call ratio 1:4, varying schedule)
- Willingness to handle call duties, including on-call hours with allowances for gratis hours
- Compliance with all hospital and licensing regulations; travel and credentialing reimbursements where applicable
