Position Details
Coordinator for Student‑Athlete Transition & Support – Position Number GA369. Full‑time, FLSA exempt, Sensitive Position. Requires Campus Security Authority designation and background check eligibility. Reports to the Director of Student‑Athlete Transition & Support.

Responsibilities

Oversee a caseload of student athletes and disaffiliated student athletes, providing individual support and timely follow‑up of Captains Care referrals; coordinate internal and external resources; conduct risk assessments; monitor progress for persistence and athletic eligibility; develop and implement intervention plans; maintain detailed records; communicate with management and coaching staff as necessary.

Coordinate and present academic and life‑skill lessons to students in small groups, workshops, or one‑on‑one sessions covering topics such as transition, time management, learning styles, test‑taking strategies, study skills, note‑taking strategies, communication, conflict resolution, and post‑graduate preparation.

Manage daily operations of Study Hall: hire and train study hall monitors; complete employment paperwork; implement a study hall model; document attendance; evaluate effectiveness and outcomes.

Collaborate with the Director to create and distribute an weekly newsletter (“Monday Message”) to all student‑athletes.

Meet with prospective student‑athletes and families during campus visits to discuss university goals, athletics philosophy, and support services.

Stay current on student‑affairs trends, research academic performance topics, and athletic‑student transition strategies.

Understand the Student‑Athlete Handbook, undergraduate catalogs, academic standing, graduation requirements, registration deadlines, and NCAA eligibility requirements, while noting that reporting NCAA eligibility is not part of the role.

Assist with departmental research and assessment to evaluate service quality, student satisfaction, learning outcomes, and provide data for decision‑making.

Promote the Division of Student‑Affairs and athletics objectives, ensuring compliance with departmental policies, university rules, and NCAA regulations.

Represent the Division on committees and working groups.

Participate in university events such as orientation, commencement, move‑in, admission events, and special ceremonies.

Collaborate with Student‑Affairs, enrollment, student success, admission, and auxiliary services on retention initiatives.

Maintain professional customer service and positive relations with students, faculty, staff, guests, and employees; uphold the institution’s “Students First” value.

Follow workplace safety regulations, promote a healthy work environment, and comply with applicable standards.

Serve as a responsible employee who has the authority to report sexual violence or other misconduct.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education
Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree with work experience equivalent to an advanced degree.

Additional Consideration – Experience

Experience advising or coaching students in a university setting, particularly student athletes.

Customer service experience with a diverse population of constituents.

Experience facilitating workshops, information sessions, and intervention programs; managing departmental resources.

Salary
Starting at $50,887, commensurate with education and experience.
