Boys Assistant Basketball Coach

Job Goal
To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride of accomplishment in the student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Qualifications
Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (major sports).
Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport and a continuous commitment to learning new theories and procedures.
Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.
Responsibilities
Report to the athletic director and collaborate with high school principals.
Supervise, advise, and support assistant coaches and middle school coaches in coordination with the athletic director and principals.
Ensure full compliance with all athletic policies, state and league regulations, and school policies.
Lead staff development: design conferences, clinics, and meetings, and encourage professional growth.
Plan, schedule, and coordinate practices, games, tournaments, and transportation.
Provide documentation for state and school requirements: physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
Maintain discipline, handle grievances, increase staff morale, and reinforce sportsmanship.
Manage budgets for seasonal equipment, maintain equipment inventory, and ensure safe use and storage.
Promote the sport within the school through recruiting, communications with media, booster clubs, and parents.
Serve as mentor to student athletes, monitor grades and conduct, and guide them toward collegiate or advanced educational opportunities.
Coordinate injury response, medical attention, emergency protocols, and document disabling athletic injuries.
