Job Description: This assignment begins immediately and continues for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The Education Support Professional supports and carries out instruction designed by general and special educators to meet the individual needs of students with or without disabilities in a calm and non-reactionary manner. The Professional assists the educator to achieve student success, including working with students on IEP goals, monitoring and documenting progress, and communicating with classroom teachers and service providers.

General Summary: The Education Support Professional works directly with students in a variety of settings, including classroom, services, recess, lunch, and other times based on IEP or 504. They maintain boundaries, communicate with families, and support classroom staff.

Qualifications

Experience working with students in a Special Education program preferred.

Associate degree or higher, or equivalent experience.

Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to operate computers, use Google Suite, and other required programs.

Ability to exercise patience, tact, and good judgment.

Ability to work in a complex and changing environment.

Demonstrate flexibility and ability to carry out instructions.

Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Specific Duties

Support and assist students for physical, academic, and/or behavioral needs.

Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans.

Manage aggressive behaviors, apply behavior de-escalation and safety skills (e.g., CPI/Safety Care).

Assist with toileting/diapering students.

Provide specialized learning techniques and applied behavioral activities tailored to individual instruction.

Monitor student progress, collect and document academic and behavioral data.

Use verbal and visual supports, modeling appropriate tasks, skills, and behaviors.

Accompany students throughout the day as needed (classes, services, recess, lunch, etc.).

Support classroom teacher with classroom duties if necessary.

Facilitate, collaborate, and communicate between classroom teachers and special education liaisons.

Participate in district provided job‑related training.

Perform any other duties assigned by the Building/Special Education Administrators.
