
ASSISTANT-DISCIPLINE

JOB GOAL
Under direct supervision, performs standard secretarial duties.
Position Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Knowledge of HPS discipline procedures
Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records
Duties And Responsibilities
Provides support to Dean of Students/Assistant Principal in student discipline.
Prepares all correspondence including letters, memorandums, agendas, reports, minutes, and other documents.
Maintains calendar and schedules appointments as needed.
Make and answers related calls, records messages, and re-directs inquiries to the appropriate individual.
Maintains office filing system.
Copies, faxes, and files correspondence as requested.
Assists with related data input.
Communicates with parents and key stakeholders as directed by the Dean of Students/Assistant Principal. Takes and transcribes dictation.
Supervises the in school suspension room when students assigned.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.
Ability to use effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of child and adolescent behavior issues and psychology
Ability to identify problems and proactively find solutions
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
Moderate travel is required.
