Job Overview
Saint Alphonsus Health System seeks a friendly, detail‑oriented, self‑starter to join our Sleep Medicine Clinic in Ontario, OR as a Patient Service Representative. The role supports physicians and clinical staff by handling patient administrative needs: checking in patients, collecting co‑pays, answering telephones, taking accurate messages, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance eligibility, and updating EPIC.

Employment Type & Shift
Full‑time. Schedule Monday – Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM (or similar).

Responsibilities

Check in patients, collect co‑pays and verify insurance eligibility.

Answer telephone calls, take accurate messages and schedule appointments.

Use EPIC to update patient information and maintain confidentiality per HIPAA.

Provide a positive customer‑service experience, greet patients, inform them of delays, and manage wait times.

Collect and record patient balances, manage payment plans, and process financial assistance paperwork.

Control credit extended to patients, follow cash control policy, and reconcile daily financial activities.

Maintain office inventory, equipment, and a tidy reception area.

Support the sleep medicine provider team and report operational changes as needed.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Previous customer‑service experience required; healthcare experience and EHR familiarity preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with process improvement or lean philosophy (preferred).

Strong communication skills, empathy, and independent decision‑making ability.
