Position Description
Reporting to the Plant Human Resources Business Partner, the HR Generalist provides leadership and administrative support to the plant operations team. The HR Generalist supports all business functions to drive and attain the desired business goals for Refresco North America. This position supports all hourly and exempt level employees in the manufacturing plant. The generalist will provide support to leaders and employees including recruiting, new hire orientation, onboarding, employee development and training, performance management, compliance and investigations. The HR Generalist will support implementation programs under the direction of the HRBP.
Essential Functions
Ensure comprehensive understanding of and adherence to all HR policies and procedures as well as employment law.
Interpret, assist and advise employees and managers regarding leave management, benefit administration, and HR procedures and policies within specified guidelines.
Maintain employee confidence and protect operations by keeping Human Resource information confidential.
Assist HRBP on tasks related to exempt level and hourly recruitment processes and employment strategies to meet human resources requirements.
Lead the annual performance review process for hourly employees.
Partner with department managers on the annual merit process for all hourly employees.
Lead the administrative compliance training for all employees as it relates to EHS, Food Safety and HR compliance.
Prepare for and participate in local career fairs and hiring events.
Facilitate training to plant leaders as needed.
In partnership with HRBP, organize community events.
Support plant leadership teams with retention strategy, labor market analysis, and EHS activities.
Support HRBP with labor or employee relations meetings or investigations as needed.
Resolve basic to complex problems by leveraging business/HR knowledge and client relationships.
Work with HR colleagues across locations to share best practices.
In partnership with Plant leaders, lead and organize all employee engagement events.
Other projects or duties as assigned by the HRBP.
Maintain and track HR data and metrics.
Support customer ethical audits.
Required Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and HRIS.
Strong organization and communication skills; ability to multi-task in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Professional experience in payroll administration, recruitment and employee relations.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and coordinate activities to meet deadlines.
Ability to interpret the company’s policies and procedures to management and hourly employees.
Strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills; ability to clearly convey information verbally and in writing.
Data literacy and understanding of how HR supports organizational goals, with awareness of basic financial metrics.
Problem solving and decision making; ability to identify issues, seek solutions, and act on them as directed.
Coaching and conflict management; ability to address differing viewpoints and build constructive relationships.
Relationship building through consistent, honest behavior.
Education and Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of HR Generalist or HR Management experience required. Manufacturing HR experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree or related field preferred.
PHR or SHRM certification preferred.
Proficient MS Office programs; intermediate MS Excel skills.
Experience with applicant tracking systems and other HRIS applications required.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Continuously sitting for prolonged periods; administrative in nature.
Visual/Sensory: Attention to detail; uses one or two senses at a time as needed.
Work environment: Fast-paced; ability toremain focused under pressure.
Mental Stress: Pronounced pressure from deadlines and project management.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel may be required.
