
Billing Cashier Clerk/ Financial Counselor

Overview
Under the direction of the Business Office Supervisor, this role is responsible for screening all billing and posting activities of United Medical Centers. It handles all cashiering functions per approved guidelines and protocols. It screens and assesses all patients to determine financial eligibility for clinic services. It utilizes the Primary Health Care (PHC) Screening Tool and Automated Medicaid system to document applications electronically and refer patients to appropriate programs in the Community. It provides information regarding United Medical Centers services to patients and the general public. It complies with State/Federal regulations impacting the Medical Center (PCMH, DSHS standards, HRSA and Compliance Standards). United Medical Centers is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
Responsibilities
Screen and process billing and posting activities in accordance with guidelines and protocols.
Perform cashiering functions as per approved procedures.
Screen and assess patients to determine financial eligibility for clinic services.
Utilize the PHC Screening Tool and Automated Medicaid system to document applications and refer patients to appropriate programs.
Provide information regarding United Medical Centers services to patients and the general public.
Ensure compliance with applicable State/Federal regulations and standards (PCMH, DSHS, HRSA, Compliance).
Qualifications
Education: High school graduate or equivalent; some business courses preferred.
Experience/Training:
At least one year of experience in billing principles, preferably in a healthcare environment.
Prior experience in collection procedures, preferred.
Cashiering experience, required.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Typing speed of 40 wpm preferred.
Computer experience required.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience preferred.
