Overview
Core Molding Technologies is hiring a
Senior Accountant
to support corporate financial reporting, capital accounting, and audit processes across a multi-site manufacturing organization. In this role, you’ll take ownership of fixed assets, tooling, and capital project accounting while partnering cross-functionally with operations, engineering, and plant teams. This is a high-impact role with visibility to leadership and opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
Responsibilities
Own accounting and reporting for capital projects, tooling, and fixed assets (capitalization, amortization, impairments)
Maintain and ensure accuracy of the fixed asset and tooling subledger
Review and approve capital-related entries, ensuring proper classification between expense and capital
Partner with Engineering, Operations, and plant teams on project tracking, capitalization timing, and in-service dates
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and financial analyses
Analyze capital spend, project performance, and financial impacts
Support external audits and act as a key contact for fixed assets, tooling, and insurance-related areas
Assist with SOX/internal controls and compliance with GAAP
Support income tax processes in coordination with external advisors
Drive process improvements in capital tracking, reporting, and systems
Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis for leadership
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
4+ years of accounting experience
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to communicate effectively across functions and levels
Preferred
CPA or CPA track
Public accounting and/or public company experience
Experience with fixed assets, capital projects, or manufacturing environments
VBA or advanced Excel automation experience
Job Details
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Travel: Up to 10%
Work Environment: Office with occasional plant exposure
Physical Requirements: Occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
