Job Description
WVSD Child Nutrition department is seeking a 2.0 hr. a day server at Summitview Elementary.
Purpose Statement
The job of Server is done for the purpose/s of distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel, and processing receipts; collecting payments for food items, and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition.
Essential Functions
Assists student helpers for the purpose of providing instructions and guidance for performing their job functions.
Cleans utensils, equipment, the storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.
Inspects food items for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications and/or complying with health department requirements.
Loads carts for the purpose of ensuring that equipment is returned to production site.
Monitors the kitchen (e.g. spill, hazards, food handling and temperature, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a safe work environment and complying with department standards.
Prepares records for the purpose of identifying excess food items.
Processes daily receipts for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of information and preparing monies for delivery.
Receives carts at assigned sites for the purpose of assisting in unloading as needed.
Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information on meal pricing, menus, etc.
Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
Assists other personnel as required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Job Requirements
Skills include safety practices and utilization of equipment used in quantity food service.
Knowledge of basic math, written procedures, and covers health standards and hazards, quantity cooking, and safety practices and procedures.
Abilities include scheduling activities, gathering data, operating equipment, communicating with diverse groups, working as part of a team, meeting deadlines, and handling frequent interruptions.
Experience: Job related experience is desired.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Testing: None specified.
Continuing Education/Training: None specified.
Certificates and Licenses: Food Handlers Permit.
Working Environment
Physical demands include significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 0% sitting, 90% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
