Job Description
Reports to: Transportation Director
Supervises: n/a
Qualifications: Valid CDL with passenger and air brake endorsement, State of Oklahoma bus driving certificate, Yearly physician’s statement certifying fitness for duty.
Job Goal: Provide safe and efficient transportation to allow students to access the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
Employment Terms: FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Evaluation: Annually by the Transportation Director
Physical Demands: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of a specific position.
Regular Requirements: Sit for extended periods; climb bus steps; twist at the neck and trunk; bend at the waist; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl.
Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead, above shoulder, and horizontally. Lift/move up to 25 pounds.
Visual Requirements: Close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Operate district buses safely, including obeying all traffic laws and observing all mandatory school bus safety regulations.
Inspect the bus for mechanical defects before each operation and clean the bus after each operation.
Complete all required paperwork, including preventive maintenance trip worksheets.
Promptly report any accident and complete the required paperwork.
Follow the assigned schedule and routes. Only transport authorized students.
Notify the supervisor of mechanical failure, late arrival, or other difficulties.
Maintain order and discipline on buses (based on school policy) and promptly report any disciplinary problems to the transportation director.
Exercise professionalism during school trips.
Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, board policies, and procedures.
Utilize professional behavior in all school-related interactions.
Perform all other tasks as requested by the supervisor.
