Join Our Team as a Locum Physician Oncology in Redding, CA

Are you a dedicated Hematologist/Oncologist seeking a rewarding locum opportunity? We are looking for a highly qualified physician to provide outpatient chemotherapy and infusion services at our state-of-the-art facility in Redding, California. This pivotal role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on cancer patients lives while working with a supportive team committed to excellence.

In this position, you will oversee all aspects of diagnosis, staging, precision medicine, symptom management, and treatment of hematology and oncology patients. You will work in an outpatient chemotherapy and infusion center, providing care as a solo provider with the assistance of a midlevel provider. Hospital consults and hospital admissions are required, with direct collaboration with ER physicians or hospitalists as needed. The infusion center requires your presence during treatments, which include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood/platelet transfusions, hormone therapy, antibiotics, rheumatoid arthritis injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies.

This role involves a schedule Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with multiple block dates scheduled across April through August, providing flexibility and stability for your practice. The patient volume typically ranges from 15 to 20 cases daily, encompassing all tumor types and hematology cases.

Key skills and qualifications include:
  • Board Certification or Eligibility in Hematology and Oncology
  • Proven experience managing outpatient chemotherapy and infusion therapies
  • Strong diagnostic and treatment planning skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with support staff

Preferred qualifications include:
  • Prior experience working within EMR systems such as iKnowmed and Cerner
  • Experience managing diverse hematology/oncology cases
  • Excellent communication skills with multidisciplinary teams

Educational and experience requirements:
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
  • Active medical license in California or eligible for licensure
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology and Oncology
  • Prior locum or outpatient practice experience is advantageous

Additional requirements:
  • Credentialing with admitting facilities (expected within 30-60 days)
  • Willingness to work scheduled dates and adhere to facility protocols
  • Must have malpractice insurance included in compensation package
  • Travel, licensure, certification, and other reimbursements as applicable
