Job Summary
The Systems Technician is a member of the Infrastructure Team as part of Marist Information Technology. This position’s primary responsibility is to provide operational support to Data Center, Server Rooms, LAN Rooms and Co‑location Sites. Secondary, this position will provide systems support to the Microsoft Cloud solutions, Identity Access and Management solutions and ITSM platforms. Essential technical duties include preventative maintenance on infrastructure components, maintaining physical equipment (Servers, UPS, Appliances, and Cabling) as well as ensuring that the institution’s digital infrastructure operates efficiently, remains secure, and meets performance expectations.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field

1 – 3 years of related experience

Valid driver's license required

Essential Functions

Monitors Data Center, Server Rooms and LAN Rooms systems for performance issues, conducts first‑level problem determination, implements corrective actions, and coordinates service calls when necessary.

Installs servers, UPS appliances, network hardware, and related equipment into racks and cabinets following established standards.

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Support. Configure and provide end user support to Email, SharePoint, OneDrive and other Microsoft Cloud services.

Support Identity Access and Management solutions including LDAP, AD, EntraID, and SSO.

Maintains accurate inventory of all data center equipment, components, and supplies.

Develops and improves IT workflows, knowledge articles, and service catalog items in the ITSM platform.

Participate in the development, testing, and refinement of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure continuity of information systems during service interruptions.

Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with power distribution (UPS/PDU) and HVAC cooling systems

Experience in rack‑and‑stack of servers and networking components, cable management (fiber/copper), and physical hardware maintenance

Typical eligibility requirements: 1 year of service and 1,000 hours with Marist University.

403(b) Tax Deferred Annuity – Roth option available. Voluntary, up to IRS maximum contribution.

Tuition Benefits:

Up to 16 undergraduate credits per semester. Up to 18 graduate credit per academic calendar. Eligibility extends to employee, spouse, and dependent children under age 26.

University pays 100% tuition only.

Eligible dependents may be reimbursed up to $2,000 per semester towards tuition at another accredited institution.
