
Sponsored Programs Support Center Specialist (Pre-Award) *Fully On-Site*

Job Description
The Sponsored Programs Support Center Specialist is responsible for the administrative components of routine pre‑award duties and serves as a resource to support faculty questions. Under direct supervision, this role assists with grant lifecycle tasks such as the preparation of research budgets and coordinates successful proposals. The position provides high‑quality service, attention to detail, and excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
Assists faculty with seeking funding opportunities.
Prepares and routes proposals and sponsored program agreements according to established policies and procedures while adhering closely to deadlines and communicating internal submission dates and sponsor due dates.
Coordinates sponsored proposals, budgets, and other administrative data required for reviews by leadership and Principal Investigators.
Reviews proposal budgets to ensure allowability and accuracy of requested costs per sponsor and institutional guidelines.
Ensures proposals are entered into ERMS Grants or other submission systems before routing to the Office of Sponsored Programs in accordance with internal deadlines.
Supports Principal Investigators in understanding sponsored program administration, policies, and compliance on an ongoing basis.
Attends regular meetings, training sessions, and professional development workshops to stay current on policies and procedures relevant to the position, as requested and approved by the Pre‑Award Specialist – Supervisor.
Supports the establishment of awards in conjunction with the Office of Sponsored Programs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to work in a team environment, remain flexible, be accountable, manage conflicting responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet internal and external deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrative staff, and ancillary units involved in sponsored program administration.
Capability to work with all types of sponsored programs including training, public service, basic science, and clinical research.
Attention to detail, problem‑solving ability, and capacity to prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities to meet deadlines.
Possesses critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills.
Education
Bachelor's degree is required.
Master's degree is preferred.
Experience
Zero (0) to four (4) years of research administration, grant proposal, and budgeting experience is required with a Bachelor's degree.
With a high school diploma, four (4) years of experience must supplement education.
License And Certification
Certified Research Administrator (CRA) is preferred.
Pre‑Award (CPRA) certification is preferred.
Required Skills
No required experience. Work experience can be utilized as a substitute for education.

Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month that can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off has been taken.
Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each year.
