Junior Corporate Associate – Communications, Internet, Technology & Privacy
Nelson Mullins is seeking a lateral associate to join its Communications, Internet, Technology & Privacy group in Washington, DC. The position offers the opportunity to work on communications law, data privacy law, emerging technologies, digital platforms, broadband, telecommunications, advertising, and data‑driven products and services.
Responsibilities
Provide legal counsel on communications, internet, technology, and privacy matters, including drafting documents, advising clients, and representing them in regulatory and litigation matters.
Qualifications
One to three years of meaningful experience in communications law and data privacy law, including experience in communications and consumer protection/privacy regulatory matters, and exposure to transactional, litigation, and/or enforcement matters.
Experience with federal and state privacy laws, children’s privacy laws, the GDPR, and related data protection regimes.
Strong interest in communications and technology issues and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
Collaboration mindset and ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Admission to the District of Columbia Bar, or eligibility and willingness to obtain admission.
Preferred: IAPP certification (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, or CIPT), familiarity with regulatory compliance programs, investigations, and government enforcement.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $185,000 - $205,000 annually (Washington, DC). In addition to base pay, employees may be eligible for performance bonuses and benefits such as healthcare, retirement plans, and paid time off.
