Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for an HR Generalist to join their team. Our client is a well-established, mission-driven organization operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment with a strong focus on operational excellence and employee experience.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of key HR functions including payroll, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and employee relations. The HR Generalist plays a hands‑on role in supporting employees, ensuring HR processes operate smoothly, and continuously improving systems and practices.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
Manage bi‑weekly payroll processing with accuracy and timeliness
Distribute payroll documents (pay stubs, W-2s, 1095-Cs, etc.)
Support quarter‑end and year‑end payroll activities
Onboarding & Offboarding
Own the full onboarding experience from pre‑hire through orientation
Coordinate background checks, E‑Verify, drug screens, DOT physicals, and related requirements
Conduct new hire orientations and ensure completion of onboarding paperwork
Coordinate offboarding activities in accordance with established procedures
Benefits Administration
Serve as the primary contact for employee benefits questions and vendor coordination
Process new hire benefit enrollments and support open enrollment
Perform monthly benefits billing reconciliation
Assist employees with HRIS navigation related to benefits
Employee Relations
Respond to day‑to‑day HR inquiries related to payroll, benefits, HRIS, and timekeeping
Support investigations, disciplinary actions, and employee relations matters
Build strong relationships and trust with employees at all levels
Facilitate employee engagement initiatives and stay interviews
Administer leaves of absence and coordinate with payroll and benefits
Administrative & Compliance
Respond to unemployment claims
Assist with 401(k) compliance, audits, and reporting
Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
Complete EEOC and ACA reporting
Assist with handbook updates and policy drafting
Monitor labor law compliance and required postings
Generate HR reports and conduct internal audits
Assist with HRIS optimization and end‑user training
Support training initiatives as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications
Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred
2–4 years of progressive HR experience across multiple functional areas
Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO)
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (UKG Ready preferred)
Strong communication, organization, and confidentiality skills
Professional HR certification (SHRM‑CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) strongly preferred
