Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead the Central Regions mechanical design group for Amazon Web Services. The role focuses on designing, approving, and continuously improving mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and hydronic systems for AWS data centers worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers in the Central Regions.

Develop, maintain, and enforce mechanical design standards for HVAC, plumbing, and related building systems.

Coordinate with third‑party vendors, construction, commissioning, and risk management teams to review designs, respond to RFIs, and support value‑engineering activities.

Ensure construction documents and drawings meet code requirements, design standards, and are approved by local authorities (AHJs).

Handle submittal review, testing, inspections, and code compliance for mechanical systems.

Serve as the escalation point for technical mechanical and plumbing issues across the global team.

Travel up to 25% of time as required.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field.

Minimum 5 years managing a team of engineers and 10+ years in design engineering or construction related to mechanical systems.

Licensed Mechanical Engineer.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience applying local codes, NFPA, ICC, and other mechanical industry standards.

Strong knowledge of fire suppression, fire alarm, fire‑resistive construction, and life safety systems.

Experience with construction of data centers, critical medical, industrial, oil & gas, or large‑scale mechanical and power systems.

Ability to read and understand construction documents for all trades.

Experience with design review, specification development, and submittal review.

Experience with performance‑based alternatives to prescriptive mechanical design and advanced commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems.

Experience authoring white papers, technical documentation, training materials, CMRs, and AMM proposals.

Strong business analytics skills.
