Maintenance Technician
As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for handling our Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups. Our team will train you on everything you need to know to thrive in your very own market. No previous experience with garage doors required.
You Should Apply If:

You can explain mechanical things in a simple way
You like to help people and solve problems for them
Your peers describe you as methodical, reliable and trustworthy
You're self‑motivated and enjoy working autonomously
You move fast, you're always busy and no task is too small or too big
You should definitely apply if you have experience with repairs and maintenance in the home service industry, manufacturing, automotive, etc.
You Shouldn't Apply If:
You prefer working where there are no customers to talk to
You think that manual labor is for other people
You are not weather resistant (hot/cold depending on geography)
You are not likely to follow what you were taught in class and apply it with gusto
Job Responsibilities
Handling our Annual Maintenance Club Tune Ups
Complete garage door inspections, following a checklist
Handling call back visits when we don’t get it right the first time
Focus on turning negative experiences into positive experiences
Educate customer on their door and findings from the inspection
Receiving POs for the warehouse and updating inventory with the exact counts
Assisting the Area Manager or Market Lead with load outs for techs and installers
Maintaining physical counts in warehouse and updating inventory
Basic Requirements
Be nice!
Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods
Physically able to lift 50 pounds
Valid driver’s license for at least three years with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug test (not including THC) and criminal background check
Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google, etc. as well as tablet and computer use
Basic knowledge of hand tools
GED or HS diploma not required; reading and basic math skills required
Professional appearance
Employment requires current eligibility to legally work in the United States
The Journey of a Maintenance Technician
Our apprenticeship is a four week training program at the A1 Training Academy in Phoenix, AZ.
A1 covers flights and accommodations for the duration of your training in Phoenix. You will typically work 45–50 hours a week while an apprentice and qualify for overtime for hours over 40 in a week.
Once you complete training, you will receive a one thousand dollar bonus, and graduate to a junior maintenance technician. You will perform your duties in and around your market.
Interview Process
After we review your application, you will be contacted for an interview with a recruiter if we want to know more. Plan on up to 45 minutes.
Next step is an interview with the Area manager. Plan on approximately 30 minutes.
Next step is when the fun begins: you will be invited to ride along with one of our technicians so you can see what life at A1 is really like. Plan on half a day.
