DMV Customer Service Representative
with the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).
Location
This position is located at 3115 Melby Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703 and at North Business Center, Suite 1, N5273 Hwy 27, Ladysmith, WI 54848. The representative will spend 50% of the time at the Eau Claire Customer Service Center and 50% at the Ladysmith Customer Service Center.
Position Summary
Provides face‑to‑face customer support on driver licensing and vehicle registration, issuing driver’s licenses, ID cards, instruction permits, motor vehicle registrations, vehicle titles, and license plates. Determines and collects appropriate fees, assists customers who need an ID for voting, performs some online processing, and may field questions from the public over the phone.
Salary Information
Schedule‑range 02-11. Starting pay is $22.31/hour, with a $1.40/hour increase after one year of satisfactory performance. Reclassification to the Advanced level typically occurs after 18 months and the rate then becomes at least $26.08/hour. Saturday hours may be required; an additional $0.80/hour will be awarded for all Saturday hours. A 12‑month probationary period is required.

Qualifications
Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:
Identifying and resolving problems for one or more customers in a face‑to‑face customer service role.
Reading and interpreting laws, regulations, policies, procedures, or other complex documents.
Using computers and one or more software programs to complete customer transactions.
In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following:
Multi‑tasking while ensuring accuracy within their work.
Working in a role in which the primary duties of the job are customer service.
Performing cash handling transactions.
Work Requirements
The position requires possession of a valid driver license or obtaining one within six months of hire for jobs that train on or perform driver license examination. Positions performing these functions may reach $28.20/hour after time. The representative may be required to travel regularly on an independent basis from a headquarters office to other cities during the work week, or may travel occasionally to local schools. This recruitment may be used to fill similar vacancies for the next 3 to 6 months.
