
Senior Production Planner

Position Summary
The Production & Materials Planner is responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining production schedules and materials plans for the Fremont, Michigan manufacturing facility. This role ensures the timely flow of materials, accurate production sequencing, and alignment with capacity, labor, and business priorities. Acting as the primary liaison between the factory and corporate supply chain, this position supports continuous improvement initiatives while upholding all safety, environmental, and operational standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Production Planning
Create feasible, shift‑level production plans that optimize factory performance while considering capacity, labor, materials, and sequencing requirements.
Manage long‑term weekly production plans to drive accurate material requirements.
Review daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to ensure alignment with business priorities.
Publish weekly production schedules and review changes, limitations, and priorities necessary to meet customer orders and abnormal events.
Serve as the point of contact between the factory and corporate supply chain to determine business priorities.
Expedite materials required to support production using appropriate systems.
Determine material delivery needs based on production usage; utilize SAP PO systems to plan orders, schedule deliveries, and manage transfer orders.
Monitor inventory to maintain proper rotation, preventing expired or obsolete materials.
Coordinate shipment, sale, or donation of obsolete material.
Follow up on scheduled deliveries, identify late or inconsistent orders, and work directly with vendors to resolve issues.
Manage raw goods returns and rejections, including paperwork, vendor communication, credit memos, and downtime/labor documentation.
Communication
Communicate issues that may impact the supply chain to required employees in a timely manner.
Workflow & Administrative Support
Assist in resolving blocked and parked invoices within the GLOBE system.
Serve as backup for the Materials Planning Manager when needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Ensure compliance with all factory safety and environmental objectives, rules, and reporting requirements.
Requirements & Minimum Education
BS/BA degree preferred
(Industrial Engineering, Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management).
High School diploma/GED required
with
2+ years of experience
in food processing and/or planning/expediting roles.
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment with responsibility for logistics or supply chain management.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and distribution processes.
Proficiency in
MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
required.
Experience with
SAP
and/or
production scheduling
strongly preferred.
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem‑solving abilities and sound decision‑making skills.
Experience
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Background in production scheduling, materials planning, material handling, or supply chain management.
Understanding of product life cycle processes.
