Assignment Overview
- Specialty: Gastroenterology

- Dates: June 11 (Orientation); June 12 (7 AM) June 15 (7 AM)
- December 11 (7 AM) December 14 (7 AM)
- Requirement: Complete block coverage only; no partial availability will be considered.
Schedule & Call Logistics
- Weekday: Monday Friday, 9-hour shifts (8 hours billable + 1-hour unpaid lunch).
- Weeknight Call: 15-hour overnight shifts.
- Weekend Call: 24-hour shifts.
- Call Details: Coverage includes hospital rounding, procedures, and call.
Clinical Scope & Procedures The locum provider will work within a well-established, high-volume Endo Unit.
- Essential Procedures: EGD, Colonoscopy, pH studies, Manometry, Sigmoidoscopy, PEG/PEG-J tube placement, and ERCP (Required).
- Preferred: EUS.
- Equipment/Testing: 4 Procedure rooms (Olympus), Hydrogen breath testing, Capsule endoscopy.
- Anesthesia: Propofol.
- Patient Volume: Average 12 patients per day.
Requirements & Administrative
- License: Active Michigan (MI) License.
- Provider Responsibility: Must handle all charting and work completion independently (no scribe/assistant). Responsibilities include reviewing pathology and communicating follow-up/results letters via the nursing staff.
- Credentialing: Requires an immediate turnaround on credentialing and billing enrollment packets.
- EMR Systems: Cerner, gGastro, and Athena.
