Job Summary
Provides skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and modification of state and federal buildings and equipment for the Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services. Maintains facilities through mechanical, electrical, plumbing tasks, structural repairs, landscaping, custodial duties, and snow removal operations as essential personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Equivalent combination of 2 years of education and experience after high school in carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal, welding, auto repair or related trade.
Valid driver’s license.
Must satisfy a State Police records check.
Physical ability to lift, bend, climb stairs/ladders.
Other Requirements
Must be on standby for emergency situations such as snow, inclement weather, or building emergencies and perform mandatory overtime for snow removal operations.
Trainee Option
Candidates with at least one year of relevant education and experience may be hired in trainee status and must complete training within one year.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in building and grounds maintenance trades.
After-Hire Requirements
Pass a National Agency Check (NAC) to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) within 12 months of hire.

Responsibilities
General mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance: change light bulbs, replace filters, lubricate moving parts, repair or replace plumbing fixtures.
Structural tasks: install door locks, repair walls and doors, replace floors and partitions, repair masonry, paint interior and exterior surfaces.
Landscaping duties: maintain lawns, shrubs, flower gardens, trees, roads, and parking lots with hand, power, and motorized tools.
Custodial tasks: sweep, mop, scrub, dust, clean windows, sanitize restrooms, polish furniture, move equipment, prepare rooms for meetings.
Snow removal and surface treatment: operate plow trucks, front loaders, snow blowers, perform maintenance on equipment, verify contract compliance and quality assurance.
Order and receive maintenance parts, supplies, and units.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep tools, equipment, and vehicles in operating condition.
