Job Description
The Manager, Ride/Show Engineering provides technical management, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. Responsible for the successful specification, bid/award, design, production, shipping, logistics, installation, and acceptance testing of Ride and/or Show systems, with emphasis on Show Action Equipment (SAE) such as mechanical show systems, animated figures, and special effects equipment and/or systems. Scope includes integration with Audio, Special Effects, Projection, Lighting, Set/Scenic, Props, Show Action Equipment, Animated Figures, Ride Systems, Mechanical Systems, Network Systems, Parkwide Systems, Ride Control, and/or Show Control Systems, and facilities.

Responsibilities

Manages in‑field installation, test and adjustment of show and ride systems, with a focus on Show Action Equipment (SAE) systems such as animated figures, mechanical show elements, and special effects hardware, to ensure compliance with contract specifications.

Reviews designs and documentation from contractors ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications, with particular attention to mechanical integrity, performance, reliability, and maintainability of Show Action Equipment systems.

Creates scope of work documentation and awards contracts to vendors based on requirements derived from interpreting creative intent and employing Universal Specifications.

Leads design and production reviews at vendor locations ensuring product quality and specification conformance.

Develops and oversees project schedules and budgetary demands.

Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an applicable technical field required.

5+ years’ experience in theme park engineering roles including mechanical show systems, show action equipment (SAE), animatronics, or special effects hardware.

Development of RFPs and vendor management preferred.

Position requires full‑time on‑site at a NBCUniversal‑designated worksite.

Desired Characteristics

Experience in show and ride systems with emphasis on Show Action Equipment, especially as it relates to integration of new SAE with existing show action equipment and facilities.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to manage complex tasks and vendors.

Ability to organize and manage a complex series of tasks and vendor(s) to develop and implement ride systems and show action equipment.

Comfortable working in a non‑routine environment with frequently changing situations.

This position is eligible for company‑sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $95,000 – $125,000 (bonus eligible).
