Looking to ace your upcoming academic year? As an NBCUniversal Academic Year intern, you’ll work on real projects, be part of our collaborative culture, and get the support you need to grow across two full semesters. Our internship program is all about impact, giving you the chance to contribute to meaningful work while building skills that matter.

Program Details

Program Dates: September 21, 2026 – April 23, 2027

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours per week (exact schedule determined based on business needs). We will accommodate course schedules.

Location: New York, NY (intern must be able to work onsite)

Early May – Mid June: First round video interviews

Areas of Placement

NBC News Digital Creative Design/UX : Design future products for NBC News, TODAY, Telemundo, and more. Involved from strategy to execution on mobile apps, OTT platform, web experiences, and broadcast Big Board.

NBC News Data/Graphics : Create visualizations and data analyses. Build interactive charts, maps, and graphics for news stories.

NBC News Mobile App Development : Design, develop, and test Android/iOS applications across brands. Work with developers, product, and project management.

NBC News Digital – Software Engineering : Partner with cross‑functional teams to bring content to life using Sass, React.js, GraphQL, etc.

Qualifications

Actively enrolled in a degree‑granting program at an accredited institution for the entire program (September 2026 – April 2027).

Current class standing sophomore or above (30 credits).

Authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship from NBCUniversal.

Available to work 16‑24 hours per week during program dates.

Willing to work onsite in New York, NY.

Students on F‑1, J‑1, or similar visas are not eligible unless they can change status without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

We require completion of I‑9 with active Social Security number within 3 days of hire. The hourly rate for student interns is $30.00.

Desired Characteristics

Junior or above preferred.

Cumulative GPA ≥ 3.0.

Strong interest in media and/or technology industry.

Previous internship experience or on‑campus leadership/projects a plus.

Technical roles: Knowledge of HTML, CSS (SASS, PostCSS, LESS), Java, JavaScript, rxJava, Adobe Illustrator, D3.js, QGIS, wireframing, Figma, Sketch, GraphQL, Microsoft PowerBI / Tableau.

Desired majors: Digital/New Media Studies, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Analytics, Data Journalism, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Mobile Development, Programming, Product Management, Project Management, Software Engineering, Statistics, Web Design, Web Development, Technology Management, User Experience (UX).
