Description
Human Landing System (HLS) Flight Control Simulation Engineer position with Aerodyne Industries. This role works with NASA and JETS engineers to develop and maintain a 6‑DOF Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) simulation supporting the NASA HLS Program. The focus is on developing flight control system algorithms for both automated and piloted manual flight of lunar lander vehicles, assisting in the design of a crewed digital manual control system, prototyping displays and controls, and assessing human‑in‑the‑loop handling qualities.

The Selected Applicant Will

Provide math modeling and simulation development of guidance and flight control algorithms for automatic and piloted manual flight of lunar landers.

Develop formal math model and simulation documentation.

Identify team simulation tasks, resolve simulation‑related issues, and assist team members.

Directly interact with NASA customers and contractors during technical meetings and working groups.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering with relevant experience.

Experience in the development of flight control systems for aerospace vehicles.

Experience developing, verifying, and validating GN&C math models and 6‑DOF simulations.

Experience with Linux, C/C++, and Python.

Ability to apply knowledge toward timely completion of technical products and services.

Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines with limited supervision.

Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to work in a team environment with NASA civil servants and contractor employees.

Requisition Preferences

MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GN&C and flight controls.

Knowledge of GN&C principles with background in flight dynamics or orbital mechanics.

Knowledge in design, analysis, and implementation of navigation algorithms.

Experience with NASA/JSC TRICK simulation architecture and GIT configuration control tool.

Previous experience with simulation visualization and graphics packages, particularly JSC EDGE and dcapp (open source).

Essential Functions
Work Environment: Generally office environment; may involve inside or outside work depending on tasks.

Physical Requirements: Sitting or standing for extended periods (90%), lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs (5%).

Attendance: Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule; ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust to peak periods and surge requirements.
