What You Will Do
GFT
is seeking a
Sr. Mechanical Engineer
with a strong interest in mechanical systems to lead mechanical designs. Work will be across sectors such as K-12, Higher Education, Federal, Aviation, Food & Beverage, and Transportation. This position is located in
Boston, MA .
Responsibilities
Survey and study building mechanical equipment and systems.
Design HVAC systems, building automation systems, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems.
Provide technical direction to mechanical designers and technicians on specific projects.
Write progress and other reports.
Write project specifications.
Manage projects.
Identify and resolve problems proactively.
Coordinate and verify project deliverables.
Participate in business‑development meetings, prepare proposals, and engage with clients.
Required Qualifications
A BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
8+ years of experience independently designing HVAC systems for renovated and new facilities, including hydronic & steam boiler plants, chiller plants, terminal unit systems, distribution systems, and control systems.
5+ years of experience using energy‑modeling and heat‑load software for energy use analyses and heat‑load calculations.
Strong understanding of psychrometrics.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical building codes, energy codes, and construction standards.
Strong understanding of DDC controls and control design.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Project management experience.
Experience with REVIT, Architectural/MEP packages, and BIM360.
Plumbing experience.

Salary Range: $120,000 – $160,000 (dependent on experience and geographic location)
