
Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary
JGMS Government Services is looking to hire a mechanical engineer to support repair technology development efforts by leading test programs both within a laboratory setting and via commercial subcontracts. This challenging and rewarding position offers opportunities to continue expanding technical skills through assignments involving both established and novel repair technologies. This opportunity will be on-site for a three‑year contract duration.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Conceive and produce technical designs, instructions, and procedures.
Contribute to the development of novel repair techniques by drafting, placing, following, and reporting subcontracted repair method development/demonstration contracts.
Travel to vendors and shipyards to support project planning, equipment testing, and repair deployment.
Engage in repair efforts including epoxy/composite technologies, mechanical/machining processes, and arc welding technologies.
Required Qualifications
BS degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or MS degree in mechanical engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Ability to develop and interpret specifications, drawings, and engineering standards.
Ability to plan and execute test programs, design experiments, analyze experimental results, and assist with the preparation of technical reports.
Digital design/CAD skills.
Execution of laboratory operations in a productive, timely, and compliant manner.
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with digital data acquisition hardware and software.
Knowledge of materials engineering and a background in industrial operations.
Security Clearance
The ability to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance.
Background Check and Screenings
A pre‑employment drug screening and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verification is required.
