Standard Hours: 36.00

Shift: Shift 3 (7:00 pm – 7:00 am)

Holiday Rotation: A or B

Weekend Rotation: third weekend rotation

Job Summary
The Critical Care Technician (CCT) assists the Registered Nurse with delegated tasks related to the acute care of the patient, providing age‑appropriate care in a culturally and ethically sensitive manner. The CCT reports to the Nurse Manager of the assigned unit and the RN on duty during each shift and performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High School diploma or equivalent required.

Training
Completion of the Critical Care Tech course or an equivalent program within 6 months of hire.

Successful completion of a skill competency checklist validated by a Registered Nurse.

Successful completion of an arrhythmia recognition course and orientation to the monitor room to work as a monitor technician required within 6 months of hire for staff in the FWBH MCU and FMFH 2nd floor MCU. Candidates with prior monitor technician experience may complete a written competency test to meet this requirement.

Special Skills
Ability to read, write, and communicate both verbally and in writing.

Licensure
State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification required. If not certified, the candidate must be enrolled in a nursing program with documentation of completion of the basic nursing course, including all criteria noted by the State of Wisconsin administrative code, and a minimum experience of one acute care nursing or medical/surgical clinical rotation.

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA‑approved equivalent required within 90 days of hire.
