Automation Controls Technician, Goldsmith Plant
Responsible for repairs and maintenance of complex instrument and electrical control systems including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and Burner Management Systems. Provides leadership and mentors I&E craft personnel, manages projects, develops cost estimates, and oversees contract personnel.

What You’ll Do

Apply a high‑level understanding of plant processing to identify enhancement opportunities.

Design complex logic and configuration changes and upgrades for DCS systems; program logic design of programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of sophisticated compliance analyzers, and make programming changes and additions.

Utilize extensive knowledge of preventive and general maintenance practices to develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for I&E equipment in the asset or region and monitor through completion.

Apply programming skills to optimize and enhance existing processes.

Mentor and train less experienced I&E personnel with troubleshooting and repair of equipment in the area/asset.

Serve as a subject‑matter expert for audits and investigations.

Serve as key contact for the asset or region to review company and industrial standards for modifications, revisions, and procedure changes.

Evaluate new technology and applications for enhancement of the business.

Assist the centralized automation department with new system design and install new field/plant automation equipment.

Perform other related duties as needed.

Qualifications – Required

Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Valid driver’s license.

Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time.

Intermediate or greater proficiency with SCADA troubleshooting, ladder logic, and programming.

Willingness and ability to work overtime, be available for occasional callouts, wear personal protective equipment, operate indoors and outdoors under inclement weather, regularly stoop, squat, kneel and crouch for up to 30 minutes, pull/push doors and exert pulling force of up to 130 pounds, lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds, and climb A‑frame ladders.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience programming Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.

5+ years in the oil and gas industry.

4+ years of related experience in the I&E classification.

2+ years in the maintenance and/or development of SCADA or DCS applications or projects.

Working knowledge of plant and/or gathering system processes.

Ability to provide accurate documentation and follow through on records.

Ability to interpret and update P&ID’s, electrical drawings, and diagrams.

Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to walk others through issues.

Awareness of health, safety, and environmental issues.

Working knowledge of variable‑frequency drive (VFD) control design, including programming, troubleshooting, and tuning.

Ability to work independently, be dependable, organized, and maintain a customer focus.

Compensation Range
Base salary range: $100,800 – $154,000.
