WRA is looking for Senior Construction Inspectors with Bridge construction experience to join our growing team to staff new contracts and new projects. We have immediate openings for Sr. Construction Inspectors with Bridge experience for VDOT and Local Government projects in and around the Danville Virginia area and VDOT Lynchburg District. Seeking highly qualified and experienced transportation Construction Inspectors who have worked on VDOT, locality and/or Design-Build projects.
Responsibilities

The Inspector is responsible for managing and performing daily construction management and inspection services for various types of VDOT, Design-Build and locality transportation projects. Must have experience in transportation construction, have VDOT certifications, be proficient at reading and interpreting plans, specifications, and shop drawings as well as overseeing construction document controls and enforcing contract compliance.
Qualifications

Must have aminimum of six (6) years of specific field construction inspection experience in the specified areas listed below
Must have a High School Diploma or State Equivalency Certificate. Bachelor's Degree or other advanced certificate desirable
Inspection Skills:
Applicants must have demonstrated inspection and management experience with roadway and bridge construction, utility construction, and related pavement rehabilitation projects requiring monitoring a contractor's work for conformance to the design plans, specifications and general permit requirements
Haveexperience in coordinating inspection duties with multiple simultaneously operating crews
Experience tracking daily quantities, completing daily inspection reports, performing monthly estimates and as-built drawings
Experience with AWP and PlanGrid/Autodesk Build preferred
Experience working on bridge projects preferred
Additional Training or Certifications - candidates are required to possess or have the ability to acquire the certifications below at the time of hire or the applicable certifications required for client assignments.

DEQ Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection
DEQ Certification for Stormwater Management Certification
Nuclear Gauge Safety Training
OSHA - 10 Hour Safety Training
Applicant must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
Must have good communication skills
Must have the ability to read/interpret plans and specifications
Must have writing and drawing skills necessary to complete inspection reports and documentation
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) are required
Physical Requirements

Essential Functions:

This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include:
Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
Moving around active project sites, which may involve climbing ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, or poles
Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing
Remaining in a stationary position—either standing or sitting—for extended periods of time
Repetitive motions involving the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
Lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds and/or carting objects up to 50 lbs distances up to100 yards
Driving to and from project sites which may involve distances of up to or exceeding 120 miles round trip
Must be able to function safely in an environment with potential risks, including, but not limited to those described in this document
Work from heights exceeding 6 feet
Must be able to wear a properly fitted safety harness and be knowledgeable of the correct use and of regular inspection of the harness and components
Must be willing to work nights and overtime, when required by the project assignment
The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements. Work may also be performed in noisy conditions or confined/enclosed spaces.
