Junior Electrical System Design Engineer

Overview Leidos Defense Systems, Electrical Systems Department is seeking a talented Electrical System Design Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team to create unique solutions to complex engineering challenges in our Huntsville, AL location. The ideal candidate will thrive in a learning environment that encourages leadership and technical growth. The Electrical Systems Department is a design-focused group of engineers specializing in advanced hardware-based solutions. As a technical contributor, the individual will support a variety of programs to develop electronic assemblies integrated into a diverse range of aerospace and military systems including manned/unmanned ground/air vehicles, missiles, defensive radars, and space systems.

Primary Responsibilities System level electrical architecture and design
Creation of block diagrams, electrical system requirements, cable specifications, and cable drawings
Component selection and derating activities
New hardware design verification testing
Support system level integration activities
Basic Qualifications Candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited institution.
Candidate must have 2+ years of experience in hardware system design and test from architecture through implementation or an MS degree.
Candidate must have experience with technical problem solving and root cause analysis
Candidate must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
Candidate must have demonstrated experience effectively communicating within a team environment
Candidate must have the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
Candidate must have cable design experience
Candidate must have proven understanding of fundamental circuits and circuit components
Candidate must have hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
Candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
Candidates must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with leading small to mid-sized technical teams.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 class 3 and IPC J-STD-001 Standards.
Electrical design for military hardware or aerospace systems
Experience supporting cable production
Experience with high power applications
