Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., may vary
What You'll Do
As a Laborer in Bridge & Levee Maintenance, you will support the daily upkeep of the City’s bridges, levees, and surrounding green spaces. Working under the direction of the Bridges & Levees Maintenance Manager, your duties include hands‑on maintenance, landscaping, and infrastructure support projects that directly impact public safety and community appearance.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with bridge, levee, and equipment maintenance across the city.
Perform brush and tree trimming, invasive species removal, weed spraying, debris removal, hydroseeding repairs, mowing, and graffiti cleanup.
Support data collection for Public Works assets including bridges, levees, and small structures.
Operate hand and power tools, mowers, and maintenance equipment; serve as a traffic flagger as needed.
Maintain tools, supplies, work areas, and accurate electronic records of completed work.
What You Bring | Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Landscape or outdoor maintenance background preferred.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong work ethic and ability to work year‑round in indoor and outdoor environments.
Basic math skills and ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Certifications
Valid Indiana Driver’s License (required if operating a City vehicle).
Technical Skills & Knowledge
Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment.
Ability to maintain digital/electronic work records.
Safe work practices and commitment to following City safety standards.
