Jacobs is seeking a reliable and skilled
Wastewater Maintenance Technician
to join our team at South Huron Valley Utility Authority in
Brownstown
MI . In this role, you'll read, interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, plans, specifications, and technical illustrations. You'll also perform skilled repair work on wastewater treatment plant equipment and instruments. We will lean on you to inspect, repair and maintain electrical and/or electro-mechanical operating and control systems, equipment and fixtures.
As a
Maintenance Technician , you’ll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services – uninterrupted. You’ll grow your expertise to help your team succeed in the safe and critical operation, maintenance and repair of mission-essential equipment and components including mechanical, electrical, and general commercial and industrial facilities systems. You’ll contribute to the success of our program with efficient preventive maintenance and effective solutions to complex challenges that may arise in our client’s facilities. Most importantly, you’ll take action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of your team and our planet.
Responsibilities
Inspects, maintains and repairs wiring and lighting systems, electrical control equipment, meters, outlets, and panels
Installs new equipment, interprets oral and written instructions, specifications, wiring diagrams, and codes
Establishes and maintains scheduled electrical maintenance program for the plant's equipment
May repair electrical and electronic instruments
Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and to prevent recurrences
Accountable for maintenance related recordkeeping and prepares routine and special reports
Ensures work orders and other data is correctly tracked and managed using appropriate computer maintenance management system (CMMS)
Exercises independent judgment in solving normal work problems under general supervision of Maintenance Manager, Project Manager, or Lead using standard and special electrical tools and equipment
Keeps electrical maintenance records, prepares labor and material estimates
Understands the mathematics of electricity and machines
Under the direction of the Team Lead, provides on-the-job training to less experienced employees
Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical machinery or equipment
Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions
Replaces bearings, packing, seals, shafts, sleeves, seats, or other components found in treatment plant equipment
Maintains discipline and ensures proper procedures are followed
Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work
Daily and punctual attendance in the office and/or job site or off-site locations is required
This position requires being available on an on-call basis for emergencies
Travel between work locations is required
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Two years’ experience in electrical and/or mechanical maintenance
Possession of a valid State Driver’s License with no major infractions
Ideally, you'll also have
High School Diploma or a GED Certificate
Some trade school education with an emphasis on electrical and mechanical equipment and metal fabrication
Knowledge of the methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in the construction, repair, and operation of engines, pumps, and other mechanical equipment related to water/wastewater treatment plant operations and procedures; safe work practices
Demonstrated ability to use computers and computer software including, but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and to enter data into computerized management systems to compose and complete computer reports
Electrically Qualified as defined by OSHA
Level 1 Maintenance Certification with CWEA/MWEA
