
Survey Cad Technician

Overview
The Survey CAD Technician will support a variety of land surveying projects, including topographic, construction, boundary, and right‑of‑way surveys. This role requires a solid foundation in surveying principles, the ability to work independently on assigned tasks, and experience applying judgment in both field and office settings.
Responsibilities
Perform and assist with survey calculations, including traverse closures and adjustments, field note reductions, boundary analysis, deed sketches, area calculations, and horizontal and vertical alignments.
Review survey data and drawings for accuracy and quality control, ensuring work meets company standards and project requirements.
Prepare metes and bounds legal descriptions for boundary surveys.
Conduct deed and record research and assist in the resolution of boundary or right‑of‑way conflicts.
Proactively identify potential discrepancies, conflicts, or data issues and communicate findings clearly to the supervising surveyor.
Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) and grow technical expertise, project responsibility, and professional development within the surveying field.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in surveying, engineering, or related field preferred.
2–4 years of progressive experience in land surveying, including office and/or field support.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Strong working knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or OpenRoads.
Understanding of survey standards, legal descriptions, and record research practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience producing TDOT survey deliverables is a plus.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
Self-motivated with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
