Summary
Position: Maintenance Worker. Performs maintenance, repair and operational duties at Child and Youth Program facilities.
Responsibilities
Perform work in two or more trade practices (plumbing, carpentry, painting).
Plumbing: remove, clean, reseal or replace defective parts, install water heaters, garbage disposal units, faucets, sinks.
Carpentry: measure, cut, construct or repair wood or substitutes such as scaffolds, staging parts, panels, bins, pallets, concrete forms, drywall, sheathing, roof decking.
Painting: apply coatings by brushing, rolling or spraying to achieve fully coated, protected surfaces.
Assist staff by asking questions, verifying, solving problems quickly and alerting supervisor.
Maintain safe work practices, observe sanitation & hazardous waste disposal rules, report hazards, injuries.
Drive motor vehicles to transport tools and materials using Government owned vehicles.
Qualifications
Knowledge and experience in applicable trades sufficient to perform duties.
Knowledge of safety practices, PPE, hazardous materials, fall protection and OSHA standards.
Basic math and reading skills.
Customer‑service orientation and professionalism.
Effective communication in English, both oral and written.
Requirements
Must be 18+ with high school diploma or equivalent.
Complete required training certificates and maintain certifications/credentials required by Federal, State and/or national accreditation or DoD childcare programs.
Undergo pre‑employment and random drug testing; a positive test or failing to test is grounds for removal.
Pass pre‑employment physical, provide immunization evidence, be free of communicable diseases.
Prove education if not provided during application.
Pass E‑Verify employment verification check; resolve discrepancies.
Meet federal suitability requirements including background investigation.
Additional Information
Drug‑free workplace per Executive Order 12564; violations lead to penalties including removal.
Installation Records Check (IRC) required, including SARP, FAP, NJIS or other security checks.
Automated disqualification for certain convictions or negligence involving a child or dependent.
Eligibility for non‑U.S. citizens with fewer than three years of U.S. residential history may be restricted.
Selected candidates may need to complete a one‑year probationary period.
