Career Opportunity
Smurfit Westrock Solvay Mill is seeking a Utilities Specialist for their Water Recycling Facility. The Utilities Technician supports the mill through operation and maintenance of the boiler system, water treatment facility and chiller systems.
Pay Range
$40.30/hour - $46.05/hour
Starting rate is $40.30/hour; employees progress through pay range upon completion of training.
How You Will Impact Smurfit Westrock
Perform tasks as assigned to support line team emergent needs
Know and follow all Safety, Mill and ISO procedures
Perform shutdown/startup tasks as assigned
Attend and participate in HSG and Team Meetings
Operate Industrial mobile equipment
Perform and document mobile equipment inspections
Writes work order requests as required
Operate various computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Panther System, Etc.)
Conducts proper shift relief
Maintain shift logs
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
What You Need To Succeed
Minimum high school diploma/GED and 4 years' experience with operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment or boilers and steam generating systems
Must have safety conscious work habits
Effective interpersonal and team skills
Effective troubleshooter with ability to plan, organize, and execute work
Possess initiative; attention to detail; follow-through
Possess demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze complex operational problems in emergency situations
Computer literate
Capable of entering and working in a confined space
