Job Title: Physician Compensation Analyst

The Physician Compensation Analyst provides compensation support and analysis for the Director of Physician Compensation, Manager of Physician Compensation, Medical Group, market, service line, and other leaders, Provider recruiting, and the Office of physician and APP professional affairs.

Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 AM‑4:30 PM MT. Company holidays observed.

We are looking for candidates who have experience as a payroll analyst in a medical group or have worked as a financial analyst supporting a medical group.

The position collaborates with others as needed to deliver Market Survey Analysis and work with Compensation Market Data. It participates in approximately eight salary surveys, analyzes survey data, and participates in third‑party salary surveys to collect and analyze information on the organization's competitive position. It coordinates survey results within the database, performs necessary weighting and aging of the data, ensures data integrity and best coverage of survey sources for our diverse provider population, compiles and analyzes survey data, acts as an internal staff consultant to others on provider survey data, and researches, analyzes and provides market data on positions as requested by management.

Additional responsibilities include ad‑hoc data analysis and modelling, extracting and compiling data from multiple sources, modelling projections for new compensation structures and determining financial and individual impacts of new compensation structures. The analyst formats analysis to facilitate ease of use for customers and creates dynamic analysis to react to ever‑changing needs. They perform Fair Market Value (FMV) analysis of physician compensation and ensure Internmountain’s compliance with federal Stark, Anti‑Kickback, and other laws and regulations that address physician compensation. They perform tests on compensation using established benchmarks, prepare information and participate in the annual review process for physician compensation compliance, and provide analytical support to the Office of Physician and APP professional affairs.

The analyst is responsible for physician contract review for compensation compliance, works with Market and Service Line operations to ensure appropriate compensation is included in contracts, collaborates with Physician Contracting to help formulate clear compensation language, supports provider payroll teams, acts as a resource to physician and APP payroll teams for questions on standard compensation models, reviews calculations and spreadsheets for accuracy and completeness, prepares payroll system uploads, and helps develop compensation guidelines and performs rate structure maintenance to keep rate sheets current.

They participate in, and may lead, the Annual Rate Update and Financial Plan, utilizing market data to assist with the annual review of physician compensation rates, forecasting compensation inflation for use in medical group financial planning, and helping prepare the annual rate update proposal. They are responsible for audits and compliance, performing on‑as‑needed compensation audits and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

They initiate and perform special projects as needed, using analytical skills and compensation expertise to aid in the development, installation and administration of compensation programs, and perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Director‐Physician Compensation and/or Physician Compensation Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Prior experience in data manipulation, highly detail oriented and strong organizational skills.

Superior computer skills, including working knowledge of worksheets, word processing and data management.

Creativity, ingenuity and strong problem‑solving skills.

Exceptional communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Accounting, Analytics, or a business‑related field (degree verified through an accredited institution).

Experience as a compensation analyst.

Prior compensation experience in a health care setting.

Understanding of health care jobs and functions.

Experience with incentive pay administration.

Experience in physician compensation.

Facilitation and presentation skills.

Experience with SQL.

Location: Key Bank Tower, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours. Hourly rate range: $38.55 – $59.49, depending on experience.
