This position reports to the Distribution Maintenance or Systems Supervisor and is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled labor duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the District’s water distribution system involving the use of light vehicles, dump truck, machinery, and hand and power tools. Position works as part of a team, receives daily work orders, investigates and repairs leaks, operates valves, fire hydrants or meters, completes Lead & Copper Rule tasks, and addresses pressure issues in pursuit of the District’s objectives.
The ideal candidate will be a motivated individual with sound judgment who can work and drive in all weather conditions, work as part of team, think critically to troubleshoot and problem solve, shows initiative, has excellent verbal and written communication skills, and works safely while maintaining a high level of organization, accountability, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Perform semi-skilled labor duties in installation, maintenance, and repair of the District’s water distribution system.
Operate light vehicles, dump truck, machinery, and hand and power tools as part of daily tasks.
Work with a team to receive, investigate, and repair leaks; operate valves, fire hydrants, or meters; address pressure issues.
Complete Lead & Copper Rule tasks and participate in safety and operational procedures.
Respond to emergencies and participate in on-call rotations as required.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or general education degree.
One (1) year of experience in pipeline maintenance, small equipment operation, or construction.
A valid Colorado Driver's License, in good standing, with insurability under the District’s insurance standards.
Completion of entry-level driver training in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations and obtains a Colorado Class A Commercial Driver License with air brakes endorsement, within one (1) year from the date of hire into the position.
Must obtain a State of Colorado Water Distribution System Operator I certification within two (2) years of being hired into position.
Flagger, Trenching & Excavation, Confined Space, Forklift, and CPR/First Aid training.
A 40-hour week and overtime, with or without notice, when workload demand requires it.
Working a regular seven (7) day rotational on-call schedule, on-call shifts as needed, and response to emergencies.
Flexible working hours to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, days, nights, holidays, and weekends, and fills in for absent employees when needed.
Highly desirable skills and experience
Class A CDL with air brakes
A valid State of Colorado Water Distribution System Operator I- IV certification
Preferred skills and experience
Knowledge of raw water collection and conveyance, domestic water distribution and transmission, and treatment systems.
Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities of the position.
Benefits and Pay
This is a non-exempt position and the pay range for this position is
$29.04 - $38.72 per hour
with a competitive benefits package.
