
Communications Operator Flexi

The Communications Operator manages the switchboard for the hospital in order to provide routine information and to direct calls to the appropriate areas or utilize the overhead paging system. These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.
Answer all incoming calls and provide direct dial numbers as appropriate
Respond to emergency calls and codes following established protocols
Assist callers by using the paging or beeping systems as needed
Utilize the CRMC Information Technology programs designated by the Manager—i.e. Patient Information System, E-mail, and Telecommunications software—proficiently
Monitor and follow protocols for alarms announced in the Telecommunications office
Maintain required records and statistics
Assist in the maintenance and care of department equipment and supplies
Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in‑services
Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
Reports to: Switchboard/PBX Supervisor, may also receive direction from the Chief Information Officer.
Supervises: None.

Qualifications
Minimum Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education: Not applicable.
Experience: One (1) or more years’ previous experience in Telecommunication Operations is preferred.
