Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Must successfully complete Atria’s medication training
Must successfully complete all Atria‑specified training programs
Ability to read, understand, and write simple correspondence
Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings to customers, clients, and other employees
Basic arithmetic skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed yet simple written or oral instructions
Ability to address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Ability to work various schedules and shifts as needed
Must be fully vaccinated and provide a vaccination record card at time of hire
Responsibilities
The Medication Assistant monitors the medication management program and assists with oversight of activity in the medication room under the supervision of the Wellness Manager. The assistant also supports the Wellness Manager in supervising and monitoring the daily care given to residents and assists with training assisted‑living staff.
Assist in monitoring the medication program
Keep records updated in the medication administrative files
Set up and assist with self‑administration of medication
Order and receive medication
Maintain medication storage areas, keeping cabinets, carts, and doors locked at all times
Review the resident’s medication administration record, centrally stored record, and pharmacy transaction record; report any errors to the Wellness Manager
Maintain current medication files and medical records
Maintain regular communication with the pharmacy, families, residents, and management staff
Assist in updating service plans and monthly care logs as needed
Assist residents in making doctor’s appointments and traveling to appointments
Participate in orientation of new staff and assist in training assisted‑living staff
Perform room visits and room checks on a regular basis
Assist with resident care when needed
May perform other duties as needed or assigned
