TITLE: Substitute Audio-Visual Technician
Qualifications
Aptitude in overall operation of audio-visual aids and various electronic equipment
Successful completion of an audio visual and/or electronics program at a technical school or equivalent
Knowledge of general maintenance of projectors, sound systems, televisions, and various audio/visual and electronic equipment
Background, experience and training in computer and electronic equipment repairs and maintenance
Experience with preparing and purchasing presentations for large audiences
Valid New Jersey Driver’s License
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
REPORTS TO: Head of Technical Services
Essential Function
The technician provides service functions to district schools in the areas of audio/visual and electronic equipment repairs. The technician must be able to go from building to building, up/down stairs, and throughout schools carrying the necessary equipment.
Term of Employment
Twelve-month position.
Evaluation
Evaluated annually in writing by the Head of Technical Services.
Performance Responsibilities
Repairs and installs equipment.
Repairs and maintains all audio visual and electronic equipment as necessary.
Orders parts and schedules repairs after consultation with the Technology Manager.
Establishes preventative maintenance programs on equipment to assure trouble‑free operations.
Maintains a perpetual inventory of equipment, supplies, replacement parts and replacement bulbs.
Processes repair orders, seeks outside repairs on sophisticated special type equipment as needed.
Assists in the selection of audio/visual and electronic equipment.
Keeps individual services and records of repairs on equipment.
Provides staff instruction in machine operations and minor repairs.
Assists in the pick‑up and delivery of audio/visual and electronic equipment/materials within the district.
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on the audio/visual and electronic equipment.
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on the district’s clock systems and intercoms.
Provides technical assistance in the use of poster printers, laminating machines, and other technology used for instruction.
Prepares and runs all district related meetings/preventions or assists as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent of Schools or his designee.
Pay Rate
$20.00/hr.
