
Monitor Technician (Days)

Overview
Monitor Techs observe and provide routine analysis of cardiac rhythms displayed on a telemetry monitor. Demonstrates knowledge of life‑threatening arrhythmias and aberrancies, informs the assigned nurse, and initiates appropriate action. Demonstrates competency in the application of all functions of the telemetry monitoring system. Performs clerical and secretarial duties.

7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
What You Will Do
Examines heartbeat patterns. Observes and monitors patients' heart monitors and checks for abnormalities, including irregular heartbeats, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest. Maintains records and documents of cardiac rhythms.
Cleans and maintains heart monitors and other equipment. Ensures that heart monitors are functioning correctly.
Records patients' vital signs to provide a baseline for patient records during in‑patient care.
Performs accurate and timely order entry, retrieving testing results and chart management including preparation, maintenance.
Interprets test results and reports any changes in heart readings or EKGs to the physician or nurse in charge of the patient.
Assists with training new staff on medical monitoring systems.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
Associate’s Degree, (Preferred)
Experience
1 year Monitor Technician experience (Preferred)
