Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation of dish room, food service equipment and wares used in meal preparation and service; stocking food and supply deliveries; maintaining orderliness of supplies in the storeroom, walk‑ins and freezer; restocking dishwashing supplies and cleaning agents; clean‑up of rooms as needed.
Cleaning and sanitizing silverware, glassware, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, and other equipment used in meal preparation.
Bus tables and side stations throughout service and return soiled dishware to dish room.
Assist cooks and prep cooks in food preparation duties when needed.
Completes assigned daily cleaning duties, such as cleaning of serving equipment, reach‑in refrigerators, and other related tasks.
Required Skills / Abilities
Consistent execution of quality customer service.
Maintains and demonstrates ethical conduct.
Able to communicate effectively with geriatric and/or confused residents and a variety of other people such as family members, visitors, vendors, Private Duty Residents, and staff.
Positive and constructive attitude.
Must be able to read, and follow oral and written instructions given in English.
Working Environment & Physical Demands
This position requires regular on‑campus work in a well‑lit and well‑ventilated facility. May be exposed to confused, belligerent or physically aggressive residents, contagious diseases, mental stress, heat, water, steam and odor from food preparation. Subject to frequent interruptions. Manual dexterity, good vision and hearing are required; must be able to read product labels and distinguish colors; risk of slipping on wet floors.
Required Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
Must obtain a Food Handler’s Card for the State of Oregon within 30 days of hire.
