Overview
Automation Systems Technician I – 2nd Shift M-TH 1:30pm - 12:00am. This position is the point of contact for plasma operations at the Plasma Logistics Center where the incumbent receives raw materials (plasma) from donor centers and controls the flow of materials until they are sent for fractionation. The incumbent will operate, monitor, and troubleshoot Plasma Management System (SGP), and will support Supply Chain related projects while maintaining raw material inventory through receipt, classification, and distribution. The work environment includes warehouse areas, refrigerated areas, and freezers with temperatures of -30°C or colder. The employee may use forklifts and other material handling equipment to move boxes and pallets. The candidate must follow established departmental procedures and maintain CGMP compliance through cleanliness and organization. This role requires clear and structured communication with management and cross-functional teams such as Quality, Plasma Operations, and Logistics to resolve issues in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Operate automated systems through Human Machine Interface (HMI) to aid in fault recovery.
Independently learn and excel at operating multiple inventory control systems, i.e. SAP, SGP, and Savanna.
Identify and separate various plasma types and Intermediates for storage in Savanna WMS (Warehouse Management System).
Manage plasma inventory, using WMS to maintain redundancy and efficiency during storage and retrieval of raw plasma in the automated freezer.
Adapt and perform critical functions under high pressure situations to maintain redundancy features during automated equipment maintenance, e.g., WMS reconfiguration.
Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot and reconcile faults within Automated Systems related to the Automated Storage and Retrieval System and conveyor system.
Interpret and verify freezer work orders as issued from Plasma Management System (SGP).
Collaborate with Facility Maintenance to communicate faulty equipment in detail.
Use and understand Radio Frequency Terminal scanner capabilities.
Operate safely with Material Handling Equipment (electric pallet jack and forklift) to deliver to on-site customers; adhere to safety guidelines for equipment use.
Requirements
High School diploma or GED
One year of experience in Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical or other FDA licensed Industry is required.
Experience working with cGMPs and Industry Standards
Experience in reading, understanding, and following Standard Operating Procedures
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Possess good verbal and written communication skills
Possess basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication)
Ability to multitask in a warehouse environment
Possess good organizational skills
Knowledge of cGMP preferred
Warehouse and/or forklift experience desirable
Occupational Demands
Ability to frequently lift 25 to 50 lbs. repeatedly
Ability to work in extreme temperatures of -30°C or colder
Ability to safely climb a 90-foot vertical ladder in -35 degree C environment to troubleshoot and solve issues
Capable of performing basic computer skills
Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Work with minimum supervision and able to comprehend detailed directions and execute accordingly
