Rental Equipment Manager

The Rental Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing the retail rental operations of all equipment at their assigned location. The position keeps an up‑to‑date inventory and acts as a technical adviser on all equipment issues.

Essential Functions

Provide excellent service to customers.

Treat all team members, vendors, and customers with courtesy and respect.

Greet and assist customers in a positive, approachable manner; answer questions and resolve customer concerns; advise customers on solutions and offer add‑on sales when appropriate.

Perform customer service tasks such as cutting keys, filling propane, running the register, and assisting with rental transactions.

Provide services at the point of sale, including running the register, bagging items, assisting with loading products, and answering inquiries.

Open and close rental contracts and reservations; ring out rental transactions on the point of sale system.

Check equipment for damage, fuel levels, missing parts, etc. upon customer check.

Monitor and track equipment daily; follow up on contracts to ensure timely returns; contact customers for late equipment and inform Store Manager; assist with recovery efforts; inform Central Office if equipment is late more than one day.

Check in returning equipment; inspect for damage, missing parts, fuel levels, and cleanliness; charge fees when necessary.

Deliver, set up, tear down, and pick up rental equipment as needed.

Inspect equipment regularly to comply with company safety policies; conduct repairs and maintenance; generate purchase orders for repairs or required maintenance.

Ensure out‑of‑service equipment is repaired promptly and notify Central Office of outsourced repair needs.

Maintain missed rental reports and perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports as necessary.

Keep an up‑to‑date “Rental Down” list with a plan to address each item.

Care for and maintain company‑provided tools; inform Store Manager of any tool or equipment needs.

Maintain DMV registration and current insurance cards on file for equipment; ensure license plates have current year registration stickers.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe rental area.

Open and close the store as assigned.

Perform store maintenance such as cleaning common areas, trash removal, parking lot and sidewalk sweeping, and snow removal.

Continue to prioritize customers while working in the department.

Ensure a safe working environment; maintain situational awareness and report safety issues or concerns to management.

Help out in other areas of the store as needed.

Follow all company policies and procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong mechanical skills.

Excellent customer service.

Good organizational skills.

Proficient computer skills.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not supervise team members.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the day.

Must be able to drive a truck to deliver and pick up rental equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lb at times.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full‑time position scheduled 45 hours per week. Days and hours of work vary. Must be available to work days, evenings, and weekends.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

Mechanical expertise is a must for this position.

Valid driver’s license; For‑Hire Endorsement not required but preferred.
