The Instrumentation and Electrical Foreman is responsible for planning, supervising, performing and coordinating all phases of installation, maintenance, repair and inspection of electrical systems in new or remodeled facilities. Also responsible for planning daily activities for a crew of workers.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
Interpret specifications and read blueprints
Assist in layout of work for crew
Preplan daily activities and ensure crew productivity to meet job schedule
Monitor quality control of work in place by craft workers
Order and coordinate delivery of necessary materials
Comply with all documentation requirements and fill out project reports (e.g., Daily Reports, Safety Reports, ESRs, Inspection Reports)
Coordinate equipment needs, ensure operators are qualified, and ensure equipment is maintained and repaired timely
Support the jobsite Superintendent to coordinate activities of projects
May perform related trade work as required
Travel to different jobsites on short notice
Improve production methods to strengthen best practices within the company
Other duties as assigned
Quality
Monitor crew installation for quality issues
Monitor work areas to ensure quality workmanship
Look for ways to improve safety, quality and productivity
Safety
Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures
Train crew members in safe work practices for assigned tasks
Audit safe work practices, ensuring PPE is available and used properly
Supervisory
Assist Human Resources and Superintendent with interviewing, hiring, training, performance appraisals, and addressing field employee complaints
Directly supervise and coordinate daily activities of craft workers
Complete ESRs for employees with changes in job status
Conduct regular performance reviews of crew members
Manage up to six or more employees and Foreman
Train and mentor new workers
Education and Work Experience Requirements
4 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
NCCER Certification/License (preferred)
Minimum 1 year of experience in electrical foreman role
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations
Participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors
Set a personal example of safe behavior
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules and maintenance instructions
Basic arithmetic and measurement skills
Ability to follow written or oral instructions and work within precise standards
Other duties may be assigned
Maintain good relations with team and supervisor
Physical Demands
Work up to a 12-hour shift performing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions
Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; sustain strenuous activities; work in confined, uneven, or hazardous areas
Operate with safety equipment and fall protection as required
Visual and auditory requirements to safely perform duties
Hours
This is a full-time position scheduled to about 50 hours per week. Schedule subject to project requirements.
Travel
Travel up to 90% is required. Presence on project sites with intermittent travel to residence of record.
