Responsibilities
As an A&P Mechanic III, you will be responsible for the repairs, replacements, and maintenance of key components of aircraft. You will perform necessary checks related to mechanical and functional components, including testing and replacement of defective or faulty parts. Using a variety of tools and equipment, you will diagnose parts to be replaced and ensure repairs and maintenance comply with national and international standards, while maintaining safety and cleanliness in the hangar or workshop. You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance: airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or A&P components.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements
Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
Frequently repeat the same hand, arm, and finger motions many times, requiring dexterity and vision abilities including close, distance, depth perception, and color discrimination.
Frequently requires hearing abilities to discern tones and volumes.
Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
Frequently exposed to loud noises.
Safety Sensitive Position
Responsible for the safety or security of people or property.
Inspects, handles, or transports explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials.
Inspects structures, equipment or vehicles.
Performs aviation-related duties.
Operates or supervises vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment, or machinery.
Must-Haves
Active, current FAA certification (Airframe and Powerplant) with no prior FAA violations.
Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
Own tools in good working order.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test.
Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, or publications.
Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
Preferred
FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
Ability to travel regularly and/or work different shifts including overtime and weekends.
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED equivalent, with typically 5 or more years of relevant experience. A higher level degree may substitute for experience. Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
