Pipe Fitter Experienced – Newport News Shipbuilding, Huntington Ingalls Industries – Full‑time position in Newport News, Virginia. Requires US citizenship and able to work at extreme heights or confined spaces. Shift multiple, no telework or relocation assistance.

Huntington Ingalls Industries’ Newport News Shipbuilding is the largest industrial employer in Virginia and the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of nuclear submarines.

Role Overview
Pipe fitters install complex piping systems on submarines and carriers, from reading blueprints to fabricating, installing, inspecting and testing. Training includes a Fundamentals of Piping Fitting class and ongoing skill development.

Responsibilities

Install piping systems on ships (23 miles on submarines, 230 miles on carriers).

Read blueprints and fabricate components as needed.

Inspect and test installed piping for compliance.

Participate in training sessions to enhance job knowledge.

Qualifications – Must Have

At least 1 year of Marine Pipe Fitter experience.

Can work at extreme heights or in small confined spaces.

Can kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop and climb.

Able to lift 40 lbs and pass a respirator fit test.

Can work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions.

Available for assigned shifts as production needs.

Pass Physical Agility Test.

Nice to Have

High school graduate or equivalent.
