Job Summary
The Production Department Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of its department, ensuring cost, profit and production goals are met. The role involves training and developing employees, planning and accomplishing goals with creativity and latitude, and working under the supervision of a manager to develop methods and implement initiatives that achieve departmental plans and objectives.

Schedule
Second Shift: 5 pm – 1 am

Responsibilities

Manages the production operation of multiple departments and shifts.

Guides and motivates a team of employees to achieve maximum productivity.

Identifies, researches, and resolves problems and opportunities.

Evaluates employee performance and program effectiveness.

Coaches and counsels employees.

Ensures compliance with all UFP policies, procedures and applicable law.

Communicates with employees and management as required.

Manages cost and profitability of the department.

Maintains department inventory.

Leads continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

Prepares reports and maintains records.

Participates in the Safety Committee and ensures compliance with safety standards.

May drive a forklift to assist in moving material within the production area.

Performs other duties as required.

If assigned to the Treating Department, performs duties consistent with hazardous material handling procedures.

Qualifications

Post‑high school education.

Minimum 3‑5 years of manufacturing experience, with 1‑3 years of people‑management experience.

Ability to set up and manage agendas with clear time frames and visual aids.

Strong communication skills—clear speaking, active listening, and question‑asking.

Proficiency with Inside UFPI, Citrix, and email etiquette.

Knowledge of Precise Plant Quality Program, quality training and troubleshooting.

Attention to detail, double‑check systems, and accurate reporting.

Organized routine for daily work with flexibility for changing priorities.

Daily accountability communication with employees.

Commitment to safety and guidance of safety leaders on JDA’s and JSA’s.

Training and execution of machine audits, LOTO procedures and safety improvements.

Knowledge of continuous improvement (CI) principles including 5S and TPM.

Technical understanding of machinery and equipment, preventive maintenance, and standard work instructions.

Ability to give feedback, identify advancement opportunities, and conduct performance reviews.

Understanding of training importance and safety communication during training.

Self‑awareness and continuous improvement mindset.

Successful completion of the Forklift Driver licensing process.
