Job Description
UPS is seeking a Human Resources (HR) Intern with a focus in project management to support the daily operations and strategic priorities of the HR Department.
The HR Internship Program prepares the next generation of HR professionals for success through hands‑on project leadership, skill development, networking opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to multiple HR business functions. Interns will take ownership of complex, high‑impact initiatives, managing projects from planning through execution, and will present their capstone projects to the Human Resource Leadership Team (HRLT) at the conclusion of the internship.
Responsibilities and Duties
Lead a project or workstream to address a defined business need from initiation through delivery
Develop project plans, timelines, milestones, and success metrics
Track progress, identify risks or dependencies, and recommend mitigation strategies
Coordinate with cross‑functional stakeholders to align scope, expectations, and deliverables
Support process‑improvement initiatives by documenting workflows and proposing enhancements
Synthesize research, stakeholder input, and data into clear recommendations
Produce executive‑ready deliverables, including project updates and presentations
Ensure alignment with company, business‑unit, and long‑term HR strategies
Participate in training, development sessions, and intern networking events
Engage with assigned mentors for guidance, feedback, and career development
Encourage diversity of thought, experience, and ideas
Present final capstone project outcomes and recommendations to HR leadership
Knowledge and Skills
Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
Demonstrated project‑management capability, including planning, prioritization, and execution
Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously
Experience leading projects, workstreams, or initiatives (academic, professional, or extracurricular)
Solid organizational and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
Comfort operating in ambiguous environments and adapting plans as priorities evolve
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with project‑tracking tools a plus
Initiative to drive results, follow through on commitments, and take ownership of outcomes
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment
Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
Basic Qualifications
Must be a student currently enrolled in a degreed college/university program, or graduated from a degreed college/university program within the last 24 months
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, or authorized to work in the U.S.
Ability to work in or relocate to the job location (UPS Global Headquarters in Atlanta, GA) for the duration of the internship
Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or recent graduate with coursework in Human Resources, Project Management, Business Administration, Operations, or related field
